Li-Ion Batteries and Battery Packs shipped without interruption with international carriers such as UPS, Fedex, DHL in compliance with Section II of Packing Instructions 965 and 968 (PI 965 Section 1B),

The Dangerous Goods Panel (DGP) of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in February 2012 developed new safety requirements for air shipment of lithium (Li-Ion) batteries and associated equipment. The new requirements have been approved by the ICAO council and took effect on January 1, 2013. The changes specifically address the handling of “bulk” shipments of lithium batteries prepared under Section II of Packing Instructions 965 and 968 and a requirement to provide information to the pilot-in-command. There are no changes in shipping regulations for ground or sea shipment for Lithium batteries (Li-Ion).

Most GlobTek Li-Ion battery packs currently subject to the Section II exceptions will be regulated as Class 9 with requirement for shipping papers and the shipper to have dangerous goods training. For batteries less than 100 Wh, GlobTek will maintain it’s current packaging design with a change in the outer carton markings provided each carton weighs less than 10 Kg. Both the normal Lithium battery handling label AND the Class 9 label are required. In addition there will be a label indicating quantity and weight. Current packaging exceeding 10 KGs will be revised to a maximum of 10 Kg.

In maintaining our commitment to ontime delivery of products, GlobTek is aware of the requirements and is shipping product without interruption by Air and Sea from all locations. Products shipping without complication are Battery packs containing Cylindrical 18650 Li-Ion (Lithium Ion), Prismatic Li-Ion, Polymer Li-Ion, and LiFeP04 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells.

Customers can rely on GlobTek to design safe and reliable custom battery packs from simple sealed lead-acid batteries to complex lithium ion packs including electronic safety, monitoring, and charge control circuitry. Our extensive experience in power supply products, plastic housings, interconnects, and electronic circuitry gives us a tremendous competitive advantage over battery assemblers who outsource many of the key processes required to build a state-of-the-art portable power source.

GlobTek’s ability to match our custom battery packs to a custom battery charger designed for each specific application also keeps our customers a step ahead of the competition. We design and optimize both battery pack and battery charger during the design phase to provide the best possible performance.

A leader in the design, integration, and manufacture of custom battery packs and battery chargers, GlobTek provides a wide range of UL1642-approved Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) Cells. By integrating a UL1642 approved cell into a battery pack, further compliance with UL2054, IEC 62133, IEC 61982 and most other standards are a superior choice to using a non-Approved cell. GlobTek uses a host of quality manufacturer’s cells in battery pack design and production, depending on customer requirements.
