Instructions for Globtek Customers: Factory Drop Shipment via Digikey

To facilitate faster delivery times for your orders, you can initiate a factory drop shipment from Globtek through Digikey’s established process. Please follow the instructions below:

In short: Customer is to open a DIR and then request an SDS.


Step 1: Place Your Order with Digikey

  • Begin by placing your order through Digikey’s platform as usual.

  • Ensure that all parts required are included in the order.


Step 2: Confirm Backorder Status

  • Check the status of your order.

  • If the parts are on backorder, proceed to the next step.


Step 3: Initiate a Delivery Information Request (DIR)

  • Contact Digikey Customer Service to initiate a Delivery Information Request (DIR).

  • Provide the necessary details for the DIR:

    • Order number

    • Specific backordered parts

    • Desired shipping destination for the drop shipment.


Step 4: Request Expedited Shipping via Supplier Drop/Direct Ship (SDS)

  • Once the DIR is in place, request expedited processing through the Supplier Drop/Direct Ship (SDS) program.

  • Verify that Digikey Customer Service has all the required details to process this request.
