Product Change Notice: Change in the labeling of Lithium battery packs (UN3480/UN3481/UN3090/UN3091)

Change:

Elimination of the requirement to include a phone number on the UN label for Lithium battery packs.

Part numbers: All GlobTek LiIon & LMB battery packs.

Reason for Change:

According to the current UN regulations, it is no longer necessary to provide an emergency phone number on the lithium battery transport label for UN3480, UN3481, UN3090 & UN3091. The amendment was adopted at the level of the UN Model Regulations and subsequently harmonized and incorporated into all major transport regulations.

Impact & Risk Assessment:

There is no direct risk related to this change. The change only affects the lithium battery label in accordance with UN recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods 5.2.1.9. The obligation to use a Class 9 danger label remains unaffected, as long as this is required under ADR, RID, IMDG, ICAO-TI/IATA-DGR and UN model regulations.

Although providing a telephone number is no longer mandatory, individual logistics service providers may still request a telephone number. This is an additional operational requirement, not a legal obligation.

Labels with telephone numbers will remain permitted under the temporary regulation until December 31, 2026. Both variants are equivalent and comply with the regulations.

The amendment does not constitute a general relaxation of the dangerous goods regulations. All other requirements regarding packaging, testing, and documentation remain unchanged and valid.

The accessibility of internal contacts for hazardous materials emergencies must continue to be ensured regardless of the labeling.
 

Schedule for Implementation:

All GlobTek battery packs will receive the new label. The transition for the UN3480 battery packs has already been completed. The transition for the UN3090 battery packs will be carried out shortly.
